AJ Babe: Ghana's 1st DJ to Mix both audio/video tracks promises to take the airwaves by storm

By Oral Ofori

It is always nice to see a childhood friend grow to become a great inspiration in your life. Augustine Jebor, aka AJ Babe is someone I grew up with side by side on the streets of Ghana's and one of Africa's first harbor city—Tema.

As far back as the late 1990's, Augustine had always fascinated me with his ability to make music with the most basic of instruments and equipments. It was he who made me believe in beat boxing and lip-syncing even before I ever knew these things actually had names.

This brother has a way with beats that will make any great beats maker want him on their team. So I wasn't surprised when he decided to nurture his talents at DJ'ing, MC'ing and radio presenting. Way before I left the shores of Ghana, AJ Babe was already a presenter on radio stations in both Kumasi; the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Kingdom and Accra, the capital City of Ghana.
Seeing my friend climb high despite all the difficulties he experienced growing up in the war torn West African country of Liberia greatly inspired me a lot. I will always think to myself, wow, this guy is just amazing, he's a living testimony of what can come out of hard work and perseverance. Just because you're having a hard life is still no excuse to throw in the towel and call it quits.

Augutine Jebor is doing some incredibly amazing work as a radio presenter and when I saw a video of him making an audio/video mix from his very own house after losing his job as radio presenter and DJ with one of Ghana's radio stations, I told myself wow, this guy never says die.

I feel so happy for AJ Babe now! I am so proud of his works and with his permission, I have the opportunity of sharing a trailer of his latest work with you in the video above.

In his own mind, Augustine thinks his music video tracks are a mixture of the hottest music videos for his fans across Ghana and Africa. These mixes are composed of his personal selection of the best in Rhythm and Blues, Hip-hop, Ghanaian Hip-life, Jamaican Dance-hall, African Hip-hop and a host of other exciting musical genre.

The first episode of this audio/video mix, which is some 45 minutes long and  showcasing AJ Babe in his crib using simple DJ equipments and his laptop to scratch, flap and cut will give you a feel of being in the club. This mix, the first ever of its king is dubbed “AJ BABE: Chillin' @ Home (video mix) episode 1” and you can watch it for yourself here on YouTube.

Inside the basement of his home in Accra Ghana, is where you will find AJ Babe currently working on the second episode of his phenomenal video/audio mix. He tells me new episodes will be uploaded onto his YouTube page on the regular. His home is not the only place where he's working on his DJ'ing talents, AJ Babe will be hosting a radio program at one of the newest radio stations on Ghana's airwaves so you haven't read the last of him here on my blog.

Already CEO of his music entertainment set up called Jay Entertainment, AJ Babe is feverishly working with Jay-E, the first artiste on his label who will be releasing his first album very soon. AJ already has big dreams for Jay Entertainment as he looks forward to grooming young artistes, working with well established local and international ones, and branching out from music into events planning, acting and television. If you are interested in working with or knowing more about AJ Babe,  do well to follow him on Twitter as @ajbabe4real or  find him as AJ BABE on Facebook.
