The movie ‘One Night In Vegas’ hitting Nigeria theaters

Critically acclaimed Nollywood movie—‘One Night In Vegas’ is poised for release in Nigeria mid-July of 2014 after embarking on a successful global prepare tour that sent it to places like Ireland, the USA, Sierra Leone, Santa Domingo and Ghana.

The film has been widely publicized in the American media, receiving features on the front page of The Washington Post newspaper, the Voice Of America Studio 54, Channel 9 News TV and CCTV among others.Silverbird theaters will be responsible for distributing it to popular Nigerian movie theaters like and Genesis and others in big cities like Victoria Island and Abuja.

#TheAfricanDream speaks with American soccer reporter after Black Stars game in Miami

On Monday June 9, 2014 the Ghana senior men soccer team, Black Stars, played their final trial match against the Republic of Korea at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Florida to wrap up preparations for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil 2014. Ghana handed the South Koreans a 4-0 defeat.

After the match, #TheAfricanDream had the opportunity of speaking with David Neal (staff writer for The Miami Herald since 1989) who witnessed the game in the stadium. We asked the American soccer fan and reporter what he felt about the game and both the American and African prospect at the World Cup in Brazil which kicks off on June 12.

King Peggy raises funds in Diaspora for her subjects

King Peggy also known as Peggielene Bartels, in conjunction with the Otuam Community Development Corporation (OCDC) and the Montgomery College of Arts Institute in Montgomery Maryland in the USA will hold a VIP reception to raise funds for educational and community development causes in Ghana.

The event which has been dubbed An Enchanted Evening With Lady King Peggy will be on Saturday June 14, 2014 at the Cultural Arts Center of the Montgomery College in Silver Spring Maryland from 5:30pm to 8:30pm Eastern Standard Time.

Peggielene Bartels is one of the first females in Ghana and Africa to ascend to Kingship with the stool name Nana Amuah-Afenyi. She is the Chief (Nana) of the town of Tantum (or Otuam) in the Mfantsiman Municipal District of Ghana. She was made King in 2008.

Ghanaian Gospel musician embark on Prisons Ministry

Precious Hannah Ewoo is a Ghanaian Gospel based in the USA who is embarking on a project to share the gospel through her music with convicts in respective prisons in her native Ghana and also create awareness to the plight of these prisoners.

In 2013, She released her album “Onyame Adom” which is a contemporary Ghanaian Gospel music CD that gained popularity in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas in the USA and back home in Ghana.

Eric Kwabena Matlock is a Ghanaian-born American music producer who has set his eyes on unearthing new talents and helping polish already existing ones in the Ghanaian hip hop music scene. Eric, also known as GH Coptic The Producer shares his vision of African Music with #TheAfricanDream blog.

In the past Coptic did some production for the late iconic American rapper Notorious B.I.G. (Biggy Smalls) and says the death of Biggy really touched home a lot for him because “we hung out in the studio in the past when he was alive”.
