Dr. Dre visits Rocky Dawuni's Afro Funke'

In mid January of 2013, famed hip hop superstar Dr. Dre hanged out with Ghanaian reggae sensation Rocky Dawuni at Afro Funke' in Santa Monica, California. The visit which happened on January 17th of this year was the hip hop superstar's first visit to Afro Funke'. 

Afro Funke' is the longest running African inspired event in Los Angeles that brings live music, DJs, fashion, art, film, crafts and much more to display and celebration on Thursday nights at Zanzibar in Santa Monica for over 9 years. It is hosted by Rocky Dawuni with resident DJs Jeremy Sole & Glenn Red, along with Cary Sullivan who is a talent booker, producer and photographer as well as special guest DJs and live bands.

Koby Maxwell Celebrates Ghana at 56 with friends in the Diaspora

As part of plans to celebrate the 56th anniversary of Ghana as a nation, Koby Maxwell is hosting a number of Ghanaian and other African artists to join hands in celebrating the beauty and culture of the African entertainment industry. Fellow movie stars, musicians and philanthropist of non-African origin will be in attendance. The event will be held at Lanham Maryland, USA.

Koby Maxwell is an all rounded artist who dabbles in film production, songwriting, acting, singing and event management. The Ghanaian born artist ventured into the world of music in the mid 1990's and released his first album titled 'Praise the Lord' in 2005—it was a gospel CD. Before that He had toured with Kojo Antwi as a base guitarist.

New York Times names Accra 4th of 46 best places in the world to visit in 2013

OK, there is no way I am going to let this slip by unnoticed by the world, especially by fellow believers in #TheAfricanDream and kinsmen from my native Ghana... so on January 11, 2013 The New York Times of USA published its list of 46 best places to visit on earth in their travel section and yes, Ghana came in fourth. The Brazilian Eastern State of Rio de Janeiro topped the list with the Mediterranean town of Marseille claiming the number two spot closely followed by the largest country in Cenrtal America resting at number four--Nicaragua.
