On August 2, 2013, Ghanaian boxer Sugar Ray 'The Emperor' Narh lost to 'The New' Ray Robinson at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark Delaware in his attempt to annex the vacant US Boxing Association (USBA) Welterweight belt.

Ghana’s youth football team, the Black Satellites, have received a psychological boost to overcome their challenges at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup currently taking place in Turkey.

US animal advocacy group wants Obama to visit African lions
